Shout out to the beats!  Ima tell you just like a told Ben Starr....the album is a tight! One of the best albums I've heard this year and there are some good albums that came out.  It will be released on tomorrow (08.17.10) and will be available for free download all week here ------> www.HLEvation.com <------ I promise you wont be disappointed! #nowplaying "Address" Curren$y 'Pilot Talk'

"Aint Nothin Change but the Address....Aint Nothin Change"

I know I haven't done this in a while but I guess its time to release a little and let the people know whats going on wit DJ R Dot. Gotta few things coming up in the next few months.  I'm about to start working on a mixtape with one of my favorite rappers.  Yea I said it.  If you haven't heard of my boy Righchus imma need you to check out his website right now..........yea ill wait you can finish reading this later ------> www.righchus.com <------------ He's dope right! And yes he is from Chucktown! So I am very excited about this mixtape! Its gonna be something to look forward to.  Just as a sample of what u can expect from this mixtape, check this out -------------> Oh Let's Do It Freestyle <----- Now you can tell why I'm excited? No release date as of yet, but I will def keep you posted.  Some pretty dope music has came out in the past month. I gotta give it to the homie Currency aka www.thehotspitta.com  that nigga new album "Pilot Talk" had my Pioneer Deck on fire when it touched the streets.  I don't know if its the live band in the back wit the dope ass bass lines or the fire ass lyrics Currency is layin down, either way I listened to that album for 2 weeks straight! No lie. Any way if you a fan of live trumpets and hi hats it def is a great listen and I stand by that. If you like what you've been listening to this is a track straight from the album. Definitely one of the best albums of the year. Yessir...now one to the next one Teflon Don was definitely worth the wait. The lyrical content of the album is way more than what I expected to be honest. "My top back like J.F.K., they wanna push my top back like J.F.K., so, so , So I J.F.K. Join Forces wit da King so we ate all day" ("Free Mason feat Jay-Z) #thatisall I can see why my cousin Starr is comparing him to Biggie.  I've been listening to Rick Ross since Port of Miami and "The Boss" havent stopped producing hits since. I can't decide between the two! Fuck it I got two #1's! Well I'm signing off, I'ma try this new opening up thing and start blogging. So if you have any questions for me, anything you would like my opinion on, just hit me up at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . Peace.

Death of Auto-Tune PDF Print E-mail

I have realized that this is a very sensitive subject in the music biz.  So I just thought I should put my 2cents in!

YES! I think auto tune has taken over, I won’t say hip-hop, but it was taken over music.  First off, I am not an auto tune hater.  I don’t want you to think that I don’t like music with auto tune.  I just think that the majority of artists that has come out in the past 2 years are getting by with no talent.  I respect the game and I respect the hustle, but if you don’t have any talent and it’s pretty obvious that you aren’t even trying when your songs all sound the same, that’s why I think auto tune should die.

“You rappers singing too much, you should get back to rapping you T-Paining too much!” (Jay-Z)

I was told that maybe I shouldn’t do this, but I must state facts in order for people to understand where I am coming from.  Has anyone ever heard what Ron Browz sound like without auto tune? Doesn’t “Pop Champagne” and “Jumpin’ Out the Window” sound exactly alike? Is he a rapper or a singer? No one knows! Another question, do we even know why he was “Jumpin Out the Window?”

I don't mean to single Ron Browz out like that or disrespect him in anyway, but I needed a good example! Sorry!

“I know we facing a recession, but the music ya’ll making gonna make it the great depression” (Jay-Z)

When a person has proven themselves to have talent and has created a fan base on that talent, and decides to use auto tune to try something different or step into other genres, that’s cool.  I think what Mr. Carter was trying to say is that these new rappers are supposed to be so gangsta and so hard, well why are you singing on your tracks?

People that know me know that I don’t really listen to artists like Gucci Mane, OJ, etc because I can’t relate to the music anymore. But, I do respect them because they are out there grinding and actually putting their hearts into their music and that’s why they have the fan base that they have.  But, these one-song artists need to step their game up and maybe they will have the respect that artists that uses auto tune such as T-Pain and Lil Wayne has. T-Pain has put in the work to be a great artist. He produces, grinds hard, and he ACTUALLY can sing! If you never heard him, he really can sing! Point & Case! Many may ask why does he use auto tune if he can sing really good…that’s a question you would have to ask T-Pain! LOL! I guess that’s his signature. What do u think?

“I don’t be in the project hallway talking about how I be in the project all day that sound stupid to me, if you a gangsta this is how you prove it to me. Yeah just get violent, this is death of auto-tune moment of silence.” (Jay-Z)

I’m sorry I went on a tangent, but I definitely want to hear feedback from u! This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

As I sit and think, “What should I write about,” I think back to a conversation I had last night with a good friend.  We talked about my life and the situation that I am in.  That conversation last night was the motivation I needed to go forward and move toward success.  This great friend told me that I needed to take action and take responsibility for my life.  Nobody is going to give or handout anything to me.  I have to go out and get it myself.  So you know what, that’s exactly what I am going to do.

It really helps to have good friends and a really good support system when you are going thru hard times.  Its also great when those friends are looking out for your best interests and not passing judgment on what you are doing and what you are going thru.  I can honestly say that I have friends like that, and if they aren’t, they are doing one hell of a job disguising it! So, to all my real friends, (that call me by my government!), I love you all! For all the people I was close to and I haven’t talked to in a long time, my love for you haven’t changed.  To my brother and sister (no real relation, you know who u are) I still love ya! I have never lost love for you, and I hope u haven’t for me!

HIP-HOP AND THE FUTURE

I want to start off and let everyone know that I am new to blogs! I don’t know the format.  It maybe too long and it maybe too short but what you read is coming directly from me and this is how I felt at that certain time!

I wanted to dedicate my first blog to what I think is about to be a great 3rd quarter in music.  Being born in 1985, I was too young to really experience hip-hop in the late 1980s and early 1990s and I am truly jealous.  As I sit back and listen to a custom made station on Pandora.com and listen to A Tribe Called Quest, I wish I could remember the first time I heard this song called “Mind Power.”  Then, I think about it…this is the first time I heard this song.  Those are things I wish I could tell my kids about; the beginning of hip-hop.  But, I have hope! I can tell my kids the first time I heard “Successful” by Drake and how those words changed the way I looked at life.  I can tell my kids about the first time in 2008 when I heard Asher Roth’s mixtape entitled “Greenhouse Effect” and how I said that he will be better than Eminem.  I also will be able to tell them about the first time I heard The Cool Kids raise the question, “How you gon’ be hood and your job is good?”

The “freshmen” artists of 2009 are giving hip-hop a future.  First of all, Asher Roth stole me with the mixtape “The GreenHouse Effect” with Don Cannon and DJ Drama.  He may sound like Eminem, and he may look like Eminem (because he’s white) but he and Em are 2 different people.  They rap about 2 totally different things.  They way he flow and how his songs actually have a meaning, is sick.  And when I say have a meaning, I mean everything flow, everything centers around a main subject…in the song “I Love College” he gives you reason after reason on why he loves college.  Next, we have The Cool Kids.  The Cool Kids are two brilliant brains! I became a fan late but I have done my history on these boys.  If you don’t have it you need to get “Gone Fishing” another mixtape featuring Don Cannon as the host DJ. BANANAS! The last artist I will speak on for now is Drake aka Drizzy Drake Rogers (as Wayne likes to refer to him as). I have never seen an artist with so much hype and their album as yet to hit the stores.  His single “Best I Ever Had,” recently hit the radio and it is going crazy! I have been dropping Drake into club sets for a few months and the crowd loves it and 99% of the time they have never heard that song before.  Many people don’t know that Drake has been around for a while.  He has been featured on many songs and last year he had a video on BET’s 106 & Park.  The song was entitled “Replacement Girl” featuring Trey Songs. (I do know my music!)  The only thing about Drake is that since he has so much pressure on him to create a classic first album, cuz the mixtapes are fire, will he live up to the hype?
